Atalanta overturns Salernitana in six minutes and hooks Roma
Salernitana-Atalanta 1-2
Monday's 35th day of Serie A opened with an away win for Atalanta, which came back against Salernitana in the second half and hooked Roma in the standings in fifth place. The Granata went ahead with Tchaouna in the first half but in the second half the Nerazzurri turned it around with goals from Scamacca and the newly entered Koopmeiners.
Atalanta started off strong and came close to taking the lead with Miranchuk but his left-footed shot finished just wide. Salernitana took the lead at the first real opportunity: on 16’ Vignato served Tchaouna on the right who returned and shot a left-footed shot to the second post, beating Carnesecchi. Dea tried to react but Lookman’s shot, on a nice suggestion from Scamacca, grazed the post.
In the second half Gasperini inserted Koopmeiners and De Ketelaere. At 49' Lookman does everything right but misses on the most beautiful from inside the area. At 57' comes the Nerazzurri’s equalizer: Koopmeiners crosses from the right, Pasalic’s bank and Scamacca scores from a few steps. Six minutes later, the Orobici complete the comeback with the newly entered Koopmeiners, who from the edge beats Fiorillo with a left-footed saucer. In the final, Tchaouna could tie the score but kicked high from close range with Carnesecchi.
With this success, Atalanta climbs to 60 points in the standings, hooking Roma in fifth place. The Nerazzurri, who have one game less, will face the Giallorossi on the next day in a real Champions clash. Salernitana, already relegated, remains stuck on 15 points, in last place.
