Giampaolo Medei returns to Civitanova

Cucine Lube Civitanova announced on Monday the return to the helm of the first team of Giampaolo Medei, a 1973-born coach fresh from his most recent success in the CEV Cup with Poland's Asseco Resovia. For Medei è it is the third cycle with the club: from 1994 to 2006 he oversaw the youth sector first and è was assistant coach of the first team then, in 2017/18 and part of the following year è instead he was head coach.

"I am very proud and excited to return to lead Lube in such a challenging and ambitious new project" said Medei to the official channels of the club, which, in the season just ended, did not add any trophies to its trophy case (playoff victory for the 5° place in the league, lost Italian Supercup final, stopped in the Italian Cup in the quarterfinals and in the Champions League in the semifinals).

Medei, in Civitanova, won as assistant coach one Scudetto, one Coppa Italia, one Champions League and two CEV Cups. The coach’s palmarès also include the CEV Cup won in 2017 at the helm of Tours and the 2020/21 Turkish championship win with Ziraat.

Lube’s new coach è was also Chicco Blengini’s deputy in the national team: during his experience in the Azzurro he brought home the Olympic silver medal in Rio 2016.
