Internazionali d’Italia, men’s draw: immediate derby between Matteo Berrettini and Stefano Napolitano

All-Italian double challenge, among other pairings drawn in Rome

The pairings for the men’s main draw of the Internazionali d'Italia were drawn on Monday: the all-Italian ranks are full, although without the injured Jannik Sinner, with 12 athletes already in the main draw. Two Italians are sure to fall in the first round, as the drawer drew two fratricidal clashes.

The Italian leader, at the seeding level, è Lorenzo Musetti: the number 27 seed in the tournament è already in the second round, where he will face the winner of the challenge between Christopher Eubanks and an athlete from the qualifiers. Instead, he will start from the first round with Matteo Arnaldi, who will face Czech Tomas Machac, while Lorenzo Sonego will play against Serbian Dusan Jajovic.

Flavio Cobolli will know the name of his opponent only at the end of the qualifiers, while Luciano Darderi will face a tough opponent Denis Shapovalov and Luca Nardi will challenge; Daniel Altmaier. Two derbies: Matteo Berrettini will meet; Stefano Napolitano, while Matteo Gigante will face; Giulio Zeppieri.

Fabio Fognini, one of the Italian wild cards, will begin his assault on the Rome tournament by facing Daniel Evans, while Andrea Vavassori will play for access to the second round against Dominik Koepfer.
