The provisional calendars of the 2024-2025 World Cup

.

While snow has continued to show up in recent weeks, the annual FIS Spring Meeting provided the perfect setting for spring conditions. The annual event was held in the charming Slovenian resort of Portorož.

The highlight of the week è came Wednesday, when the subcommittee and members of the Alpine Ski World Cup committee met to deliberate on the nuances, prospects and alpine capabilities of the upcoming season.

While the 2024-2025 calendars had already been unveiled to the National Ski Federations, with great enthusiasm the provisional calendars for the upcoming season were again presented to everyone in the room.

The calendar will be intertwined with the return of some race venues, with some making their grand debut, without forgetting the traditional venues that excite us every year.

The highlight of the upcoming season will be the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Feb. 4-16. After hosting the finals of the last World Cup last March, the organizers have shown us that the venue è is ready to welcome the world’s best athletes for two weeks of competitions that already promise to be full of excitement and surprises.

As for the World Cup calendar, the first weekend in Soelden (AUT) will return on the last weekend of October. To the delight of Levi (FIN), the boys will make their return to the Levi Black track on Sunday, November 17, the day after the women’s race.

The same goes for Gurgl (AUT), which had a successful first slalom last winter, with the Austrian trio Feller-Schwarz-Matt. The men’s slalom will be held on Saturday, November 23, and the women’s slalom on Sunday, November 24.

As usual, the teams will then travel to North America and Canada for the downhill, super-G and giant slalom races. A semi-renewal on the women’s calendar will be the downhill and super-G on the Birds of Prey slope in Beaver Creek (USA), following the traditional men’s weekend.

The World Cup will continue the traditional circuit with a few changes. Madonna di Campiglio (ITA) è has been moved after the end of the year instead of before Christmas, and the same goes for the women's night slalom in Courchevel (FRA), scheduled at the end of January before the most important event of the season.

Once the World Championships are over, it will be time to think about the next one in 2027 in Crans-Montana (SUI). The men's speed skiers will travel to the Swiss plateau for two-speed events to test the as-yet-unknown men's track.

As for the continuation of the season after the World Championships, there are some changes and, therefore, some returns to the calendar, such as Sestriere (ITA) and La Thuile (ITA), respectively, before and after the Scandinavian lockout.

The men’s team will again see a new venue on the calendar for the last weekend before the finals. The Ciro Bianco will take place not one but two weekends in Norway, with Hafjell coming in, which will include a technical weekend.

The World Cup finals, hosted by Sun Valley (USA), will finally take place over’’a week, March 22-27.
