Bologna, Thiago Motta pushes away talks on Champions and renewal

Thiago Motta è rightly very happy for his team’s success at the 'Maradona' and tries to stay with his feet on the ground, while knowing full well that the success with Napoli opens wide to Bologna the doors of qualification for the Champions League that could be mathematically reached already from tomorrow night, in case of Roma’s failure to win in Bergamo with Atalanta.

"I hope we can qualify for the Champions League. But what interests me most today is è the performance of my boys. We should not think about other teams but only celebrate a victory with a very strong opponent. We played – notes the coach of the Rossoblù – with great commitment and also expressing quality. In the second half Napoli è was more aggressive and we suffered a little more, although we were good at not conceding goals".

" I am enjoying this moment and I certainly hope to get to the Champions League,” Thiago Motta added, “and I must say that my team has reached this position thanks exclusively to its own merits, which are everyone’s, from the president to the managers, to everyone who works for the company. As for the players, they have done a huge, incredible job and I thank them on behalf of all our fans, with whom I would like to be at this moment to share with them the joy and happiness; for this victory".

The Bologna coach did not answer the question about a possible renewal that binds him to the Emilian club. "You will know in due time" he simply tells reporters in the press room. The coach then explains the decision to have Ravaglia – decisive with his save on the penalty kicked by Politano – play in place of Skorupski. "I deployed him – he says – because he too deserves to play, he è always trained at his best. Skorupski è an example for his teammates and even from the bench, as he always does in training, he helped them".
