Marlon Yant says goodbye to Lube
After four intense seasons, two Scudetti won, one Coppa Italia put in his trophy cabinet, several finals (complete with a rainbow silver medal) and a path of growth that saw him take the team on his shoulders several times, setter Marlon Yant leaves Cucine Lube Civitanova.
He does so with a promise to return and without holding back tears from the melancholy of parting with a club, a city and many people who have welcomed him like a son. A communityà that followed his sporting maturation step by step until the’last challenge in Verona. The match in which, despite an excruciating pain in his leg, the Caribbean giant è stayed on the court sealing the decisive points to win the Play Off 5° Place and leave as a legacy; the pass for the Challenge Cup 2025.
“When we won the Final of the Play Off 5° Place I could not hold back the tears, partly because I had helped to hit a goal that only a few days before seemed complicated, partly becauseé I knew I had ended my adventure at Lube. These four years in Civitanova helped me become a man, improve my technique and manage my athletic gifts. Here I found a united group and, in the first seasons, a ‘Cuban family’ on the roster. Winning trophies at a very young age unleashed immense joy in me, but also the last two years, which were more painful, without titles and with many memorable sports battles, allowed me to put aside an important baggage by making me part of a meaningful project. Now I feel the need for a new parenthesis, but è a goodbye! I already imagine a possible return to Lube in my sporting future. I owe a lot to the club and will certainly carry in my heart all the people who shared the path with me. Thinking back to the choruses of the Lube fans will make me smile again in difficult times!”.
