Yeman Crippa is already in Paris on the path to the Games
The words of Yeman Crippa
“Very tough course, anything but flat: much will be decidedà between the 28th and 32nd kilometers, when there’è a six-hundred-meter-long climb with gradients as steep as 13.5 percent, and an equally treacherous descent afterwards. We will have to get there prepared”. Two days in Paris to try out the Olympic marathon course. Study it. Analyze it. To leave nothing to chance and project oneself with even greater awareness toward the five-ring event on Saturday, August 10, start at eight in the morning. Yeman Crippa, together with coach Massimo Pegoretti and with the support of the Federation, è went to discover the French streets that will award the Olympic medals in less than three months, starting from the’Hotel de Ville and arriving at the’Esplanade des Invalides, through the most iconic places of the French capital such as the Louvre, Versailles and the Eiffel Tower.
In the overall 42.195 km, the elevation profile includes an ascent of 436 meters and a descent of 438 meters. È a very muscular course that mainly offers two challenging points: the first is encountered around the 20° kilometer mark, with gradients ranging between 3 and 4 percent. The second, the hardest, è is precisely the stretch that marathoners will find about fourteen kilometers from the finish line and that could make the decisive selection. More conventional, on the other hand, are the stretches where the course skirts the Seine, although the pavé of the initial kilometers may take a toll on the legs in the hot moments.
This season Yeman Crippa (Fiamme Oro) set the Italian marathon record in Seville with 2h06:06 on Feb. 18. At the end of April he è also appropriated the national 10 km road record in Herzogenaurach (27:08) completing his own collection of records: 3000, 5000, 10,000, 5 km, 10 km, half and marathon. The 27-year-old from Trentino è among the most awaited Azzurri at the European Championships in Rome (June 7-12), where he could double half marathon+10,000 meters, a specialty’the latter of which è reigning European champion.
