Milan, playoffs

First round of Play Off of CEV Champions League for Numia Vero Volley Milano which flew to Germany and on Wednesday, February 5 at 18.00 (live DAZN and Sky) will face, for the first time ever, SSC Palmberg Schwerin at Palmberg Arena.

Closing the round on 15 points, on a par with VakifBank Istanbul but with a worse set quotient, Coach Lavarini’s girls clinched second place in their Pool and will have to face the Play Off round to enter the Quarterfinals of the competition. Orro and her teammates are determined to close the qualification talk already in the first leg match, which comes after an intense week, culminating with 9 points in three matches in Serie A1 Tigotà.

Back from the trip to Germany, the Vero Volleyball girls will focus on the highlight of the week: over the weekend they will be in the spotlight at the’Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno for the Frecciarossa Italian Cup Finals, with the semifinal scheduled Saturday 8 against Scandicci.

A curiosity: the German roster includes Leana Grozer, class of 2007, daughter of former Vero Volley Monza player Georg Grozer.

Schwerin è considered a true ‘Mecca’ of volleyball in Germany, with a history rooted in 1957. The women’s team from the ‘City’ of the Seven Lakes’ collected numerous successes back in the days of the ’former East Germany, winning the Champions Cup in 1978 under the name Traktor Schwerin. Its winning tradition è continued over time, with 12 Bundesliga titles and 6 German Cups. In this edition of the CEV Champions League, Schwerin finished Pool B with 8 points, the result of 3 wins and 3 losses.
