Lukaku decisive, Roma still hopes for Champions. Genoa ko

Roma è won 1-0 at the Olimpico against Genoa in the Sunday post-match of the 37th and penultimate day of the championship. The Giallorossi bent the Grifone thanks to Lukaku’s goal in the second half.De Rossi’s team has secured sixth place, but Champions League qualification will depend on Atalanta’s upcoming results in the league and in the Europa League final (Dea must win with Bayer Leverkusen but not finish fourth in Serie A). Genoa, long-saved, è 11th.

First half with little excitement, the Giallorossi kept possession of the ball but no shots came into the Genoa goal mirror. In the beginning Ndicka risks the autogol to anticipate Retegui, Svilar saves with his foot, then Roma creates some chances with Baldanzi and Paredes.

In the second half, De Rossi’s team tries to up the pace: the Capitolini coach inserts El Shaarawy for Pellegrini and Dybala for Baldanzi.  The match comes alive, the hosts have two great chances with Lukaku and El Shaarawy, Genoa responds with Frendrup.

Glowing end of the match: Paredes is sent off at 72' by Manganiello for excessive protests, but at 79' Lukaku manages to unlock it thanks to a header off El Shaarawy’s cross. Roma in 10 men defended against the last assaults of the Ligurians (Svilar decisive) and cashed in three points that keep it still in the running for the Champions League.
