Alexander Zverev throws down the gauntlet to Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz
Alexander Zverev already puts Roland Garros in his sights
After triumphing at the Internazionali d'Italia for the second time in his career, Alexander Zverev, speaking at a press conference after celebrating his triumph, did not hide his ambition ahead of Roland Garros, which will begin next May 26. The German tennis player, in fact, wanted to clearly manifest his goals for the Paris slam by throwing down the gauntlet to Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
"I have already said it many times and I will say it again: I am someone who knows that when I do not play well I can lose to anyone, but otherwise I am able to defeat everyone. This è my mentality; I think like this. I know I have to focus on myself, find my rhythm in Paris like I did here, so everything will depend on my racket" began the newly crowned champion of the Internazionali d'Italia 2024.
"Djokovic will be at the highest level, you will see, he è done soì. Nadal will play much better than in Madrid and Rome, I am sure. As for Jannik and Carlos Alcaraz, it depends on their health. If they are well, they are two of the best players in the world. I saw that Sinner uploaded a picture of the practice, so I guess he feels good on the court and will participate in the tournament. I, no matter what, am ready to give battle to anyone" added the new world number four.
"Before Rome, the clay tour had not gone as well as I expected. It was just a matter of finding one’s rhythm, and I am happy that I was able to find it here right before Roland Garros. I hope I can continue like this in Paris and express my best tennis. It's a date I particularly care about and it's the tournament I want to win. We are talking about the most physically difficult major" concluded Alexander Zverev.
