Aleix Espargarò record-breaking in second free practice at Montmelo, Marc Marquez out of Q2

MotoGp, Montmelò: Aleix Espargarò by record in the second free practice

After finishing fifth in FP1, Aleix Espargarò closed out Friday’s free practice in Montmelò in a big way by setting the fastest time in the second session. The Aprilia centaur even signed the new track record, stopping the stopwatch on 1:38.562, ahead of Brad Binder, 72 thousandths behind, and the KTM Gas Gas of Pedro Acosta. 

Fourth place, on the other hand, for defending champion Pecco Bagnaia, while in fifth is Jack Miller's other Red Bull KTM. Sixth place for world leader Jorge Martin. Finally, completing the top 10: Enea Bastianini (Ducati), Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac), Alex Rins (Yamaha) and Maverick Vinales (Aprilia).

Remaining out of Q2 are both Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing) and Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who do not go beyond 12th and 14th place. Also in Q1 are both Pertamina Enduro VR46 riders with Bezzecchi 15th and Di Giannantonio 17th.
