Boris Becker exposes himself on Novak Djokovic and quotes Jannik Sinner
Boris Becker comments on Novak Djokovic’s results crisis
Many people are wondering about the state of Novak Djokovic’s form: in 2024 the Serb, while maintaining the first position in the world ranking, has not yet won a tournament and in the recent Internazionali d'Italia è exited in the third round against Alejandro Tabilo, a tennis player who is certainly talented (è currently number 25 in the world) but who in the ATP circuit has won only one tournament against Nole’s 98.
Boris Becker, who knows Djokovic very well from having coached him around the middle of last decade, said during a speech to the British version of 'Eurosport' – that the beginning of this crisis è to coincide with the two matches he lost at the hands of Jannik Sinner, first in the semifinals of the 2023 Davis Cup and then at the 2024 Australian Open.
"The defeat in Davis took a lot of energy and some of his magic out of Djokovic,‖ Becker explained.
Since then he has not è returned to his best form and every match he plays è a battle: his opponents respect him, but now they take the court with the belief that he can be defeated".
"The knockout with Sinner at the Australian Open è something that can be expected – added the former German champion. In the eyes of a fan it might have seemed to be simply a setback and that in the following tournaments Djokovic would return to dominance. Instead it did not è go like that; and in Monte Carlo and Rome came two unexpected defeats".
