F1, Monaco GP: Lewis Hamilton ahead of everyone in first free practice, Leclerc fifth
It is Mercedes and McLaren that dominate the first free practice of the Monaco Grand Prix. In fact, in Monte Carlo, the seven-time world champion è was the fastest of all in the first session, beating the McLaren of Oscar Piastri by 29 thousandths and teammate George Russell by 126 thousandths.
Fourth place for the other McLaren of Lando Norris, ahead of an unfortunate Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver, in fact, hit some debris left on the road by Guanyu Zhou’s Kick Sauber, which forced him to slow down in the final, damaging part of the front bottom of his SF-24.
Sixth place and seventh place respectively for the Aston Martins of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, while the Racing Bulls of Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo placed eighth and ninth. Closing out the top 10 was the other Ferrari of Carlos Sainz.
In trouble was Red Bull, with Max Verstappen only in 11th place and Sergio Perez in 12th.
