GP Monaco, Ferrari: Charles Leclerc set for pole, Carlos Sainz struggles

Here are statements from Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at the end of the second free practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix in which they finished first and sixth, respectively. The quotes are from formulapassion.co.uk.

“I think on the averages we were very strong, while on the softs we struggled to put things together,” Leclerc said.

I feel confident in the car and it è important to keep the momentum going into FP3. Maybe I took more risks than the others. Overall è a positive first day. Tomorrow in qualifying everyone will come to the limit, I think I will be able to get even more pace by putting it all together: if you look at all my sectors there’was pace if I had put them all together”.

“We look fast, but as I said yesterday in 2021 we were going bad but here we were very fast; this year here also Mercedes looks very fast after suffering so much, we saw it with Lewis. We have to maximize everything to be able to take pole“, continued the home favorite.

“Definitely we struggled for more than one lap today we simply could not get the maximum performance with the medium and soft tires,‖ added Sainz.

There’è something we have to understand, but hopefully we will find answers for tomorrow. We modified the setup before FP2, however I did better in the long run, but it wasn’t è the best way to start the weekend”.

“Monaco è one of my favorite tracks where I am best, so it è strange what è happened today. At the same time, when I see that I am one of the fastest in the long run I realize that there’è something we have to figure out, but if we can put everything together we should solve everything for tomorrow”, concluded the Spaniard.
