A good Manassero but Elvira triumphs

In Belgium Elvira wins

Nacho Elvira scored his second career victory on the DP World Tour, winning the Soudal Open in Antwerp, Belgium, with a total of 266 strokes (64 64 67 71, -18). The 37-year-old from Madrid è remained in the lead from the second round and withstood the comeback of Thomas Pieters, who finished in second place with 267 (-17), along with Denmark’s Niklas Norgaard and France’s Romain Langasque.

Matteo Manassero offered a good performance. The best Italian in the world ranking and in the tournament, he came close to the Top 10, finishing in 13thº place with 271 strokes (68 68 67 68, -13). Manassero totaled 16 birdies and only three bogeys in the 72 holes played, bringing him closer to qualifying for the Paris Olympics.

Guido Migliozzi and Andrea Pavan both finished 24thº place with 274 strokes (-10). Migliozzi lost 24 positions in the last 18 holes, while Pavan gained as many. Edoardo Molinari finished in 41º place with 276 strokes (-8), one stroke lower for him than Francesco Laporta and Filippo Celli, both in 48º place with 277 strokes (-7).

For Elvira, this è his second triumph on the men’s top continental circuit, following his victory at the Cazoo Open in Wales in 2021. The victory earned him $382,500 out of a total prize pool of $2,500,000. The DP World Tour will now move on to Hamburg, Germany, where the European Open will be held from May 30 to June 2.
