Winning debut for Matteo Berrettini at Wimbledon. The Roman tennis player, in fact, passed the first round of the Championships, defeating in four sets the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, number 70 in the ATP ranking, with the final score of 7-6 6-2 3-6 6-1 after almost three hours of play.
In the first set è service was the dominant factor with both players conceding break balls only in one round of serve. It thus came down to the tie-break where è Berrettini placed the decisive extension from 3-3, winning four consecutive points and winning the first partial.
It was all easy for the Italian in the second set: after squandering three break points in the opening game, Matteo hit the break on the fourth chance in the third game (2-1). The Roman confirmed the break advantage (3-1) and in the seventh game he repeated it, then closing the score on the final 6-2.
In the third set, it cost Berrettini dearly for a lapse in the fourth game: Fucsovics scratches the break and keeps it until the final 6-3, halving the disadvantage. Here the azure also calls medical time-out for lower back problems.
