Tour de France: Dylan Groenewegen triumphs in Dijon

Dylan Gronewegen makes the 163.5-kilometer-long sixth stage of the Tour de France 2024 from Macon to Dijon his own, with a single ascent at Col du Bois Clair, just after the start. The Dutch rider, bearer of Team Jayco AlUla, mocked Belgian favorite Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) in a sprint at the finish in Dijon.

On the lowest step of the podium was Ethiopian Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty). Mark Cavendish, celebrated at the start for his victory on Wednesday that allowed him to surpass legend Eddy Merckx in the number of Grande Boucle victories, finishes only in 20th place.

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) remains in the overall leader’s yellow jersey, 45 seconds ahead of Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) and 50 seconds ahead of Dane Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike).

Friday’s appointment with the seventh stage, the first time trial of the French race, which runs from Nuits-Saint-Georges to Gevrey-Chambertin and is 25.3 kilometers long.
