Andrea Dovizioso is back in the saddle. On Tuesday, Aug. 20 and Wednesday, Aug. 21, the centaur from Forlì will take to the track in Misano Adriatico with the official Yamaha for a private test of the Japanese manufacturer in place of official test rider Cal Crutchlow, who has not yet recovered from a hand surgery dating back to the beginning of the year.

"First of all, let me start by saying that we all wish Cal a speedy recovery and hope to see him on track soon with our test team,” commented team director Massimo Meregalli. In the meantime, we cannot afford to sit on our hands. So we are pleased to confirm that Andrea has agreed to replace Cal and take over the rider’s role in private testing at Misano. Andrea and Yamaha have had a close relationship for many years. Dovi è a very skilled and precise rider who also has a clear understanding of the technical side of MotoGP. In addition to his MotoGP championship experience, Andrea knows the Yamaha MotoGP project, so we look forward to continuing our partnership with him. We think he will help us gather valuable data and give us good feedback".
