Charles Leclerc can’t believe his eyes: “Podium? I would never have said it.”
A resounding and, no pun intended, unhoped-for podium finish.
Charles Leclerc è took third place at the Dutch Grand Prix, which began for Ferrari among a thousand difficulties on the treacherous Zandvoort circuit and ended in a much better way. Underlining this è was the Monegasque driver himself, who before the podium ceremony è congratulated the team admitting that he was in a much better position than his own expectations.
"I am very, very surprised,” Leclerc admitted without mincing words. It’s not often that I’m happy with a third place, però after today’s race I think it’s okay to be. In Ferrari we can be totally happy with this performance. The weekend had been difficult for the team, because we struggled from Friday until Sunday. In the race forò we found a bit more pace and executed a perfect strategy".
Leclerc then reconstructed his Dutch Grand Prix: "We were able to overtake six rivals on the track, and then also keep them behind us. The team allowed us to go really really strong, and I am very happy to start the second part of the season this way. I passed Perez at the start, because Ié knew that the start was a great opportunity. I did not know però that the further ahead we would also have the pace to keep him behind".
" I was convinced that the first lap represented an opportunity for us to gain a couple of positions at most, so I attacked and took it. Però I never thought that, starting from that point, I would get to take the podium. Becauseé this weekend, for Ferrari, it had been really very difficult", Leclerc concluded.
