Well, look who’s back: Anna Kalinskaya
Toh, look who’s back: Anna Kalinskaya
It's Anna Kalinskaya's debut day at the 2024 Us Open: the Russian tennis player makes her debut in the last Slam of the season against US player Lauren Davies. In a complicated period between the well-known problems with her boyfriend Jannik Sinner and the latest not-so-positive results on the court for her, Kalinskaya, who has kept a low profile so far, aims to get off to a good start on her adventure in Flushing Meadows.
Her main goals are to confirm and perhaps improve her 15th place in the WTA ranking and above all to overcome the tabù in the New York Slam, which has always seen her defeated in the second round in recent editions.
Opposite is an opponent not to be underestimated: the experienced Lauren Davis will enjoy the support of the public and in 2022 did better than her, reaching the third round of the Us Open.
In total, Anna Kalinskaya has earned $3.8 million in her career, the result of 291 singles wins and more than 130 in doubles. Currently coached by Patricia Tarabini, the Russian achieved her best result in a Slam in this year's Australian Open, when she reached the quarterfinals. Anna Kalinskaya debuted on the circuit in 2015: she has not yet won singles titles on the WTA circuit but has reached 3 finals, two in 2024 (Berlin and Dubai) and one in 2023 (Tampico).
