Joao Pedro to Salernitana: it can still be done
The return to Italy could still materialize.
Calciomercato Salernitana: Joao Pedro, an old acquaintance of Serie A thanks to his fruitful experience with the Cagliari shirt, could return to play in Italy. Currently untied, the striker, who recently ended his adventure at Fenerbahce, remains on the Campania club's radar despite the Granata executives professing caution.
According to reports Monday from 'SportMediaset', Salernitana is reportedly still pondering the prospect of offering Joao Pedro a contract. Gianluca Petrachi, ds granata, è working to verify the feasibility of the operation that would give Giovanni Martusciello a player with great experience for the Serie B season that has just begun.
Salernitana's interest in Joao Pedro is certainly nothing new, so much so that in the last days of August CEO Maurizio Milan had also expressly mentioned it. The latter, however, had thrown water on the fire.
"Why didn't we go all in on Joao Pedro? We never said he cost too much, but we want to make sure we don't make a mistake. And Petrachi, after an initial even heated confrontation between us, is pursuing another negotiation. At least two important grafts we will have, in defense and attack. The midfield? There are reflections on exchanges", had been the words of the Salernitana executive.
