Italy’s feat at US Open: Errani-Vavassori in final

By now, Italian tennis gives feats in spurts. The latest features Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori. The mixed pair won a crazy achievement, namely the US Open final. This is an absolute first. Never before had any mixed Italian pair conquered the last act of a Slam event.

The two blues eliminated, in the semifinals, the home American pair of Tyra Grant and Aleksandar Kovacevic. The two blue bearers played a sumptuous test, managing to prevail in two sets.
