By now, Italian tennis gives feats in spurts. The latest features Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori. The mixed pair won a crazy achievement, namely the US Open final. This is an absolute first. Never before had any mixed Italian pair conquered the last act of a Slam event.
The two blues eliminated, in the semifinals, the home American pair of Tyra Grant and Aleksandar Kovacevic. The two blue bearers played a sumptuous test, managing to prevail in two sets. After winning the first partial 6-3, the mixed doubles Errani-Vavassori è managed to run away at 5-5 in the second set, taking home set and match.
Now Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori dream of completing the task. In the final act, they will face the Young-Townsend pair. They will need another sumptuous showing to lift to the sky the first Slam trophy in mixed doubles.
