Luciano Spalletti praises the mental strength of the Azzurri
Nations League, Italy: Luciano Spalletti highlights a strength of the Azzurri
Luciano Spalletti, technical commissioner of Italy, which beat France 3-1 in a comeback at the Parc des Princes in Paris, spoke immediately after the end of the match, the first of the Azzurri’s Nations League round.
"The start è was the key – he clarified to Rai -: everyone reacted immediately, trying to give strength and tranquility to the team and then they played the game we had to play, so doubly good".
"There's always a chance" to do something better. It was important to be on the field as a team beyond the initial injury, because there's so much tension that any situation can reduce you to madness. That is why our mental strength è was double, becauseé things that happen to you come from your head, from fears and from what you think you cannot achieve".
"We have chosen a group of players who are always on the field, the physical condition is not è that of the championship finale, they are a little bit' fresher and they are all working properly. We were probably lucky to find young guys who are eager to show that they are level players: individual desire è always the key to any success".
"Sandro (Tonali, ed.) played a magnificent game, we were afraid that he would not be able to do the whole game and instead in the last five minutes he gave two bursts and è went on goal alone. We got back a very strong player".
