Azerbaijan GP, Ferrari: Charles Leclerc puts McLarens in crosshairs and stings Adrian Newey
Charles Leclerc puts McLarens in his sights
These were the words of Ferrari’s Monegasque Charles Leclerc at a press conference in Baku ahead of Sunday’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
"My job è resetting everything ahead of a weekend like this, from the win in Monza to this weekend I want to feel that momentum again. I try not to think too much about the past, I just prepare for this grand prix".
Then on the Baku track: "Usually we have always been competitive on Saturday, but on Sunday we have always struggled in terms of tire wear”.“An aspect, that of the tires, which instead, in this 2024 è has been one of the points in our favor. In any case, I do not think we can be at the level of the McLarens, but a little bit closer than usual”, concluded Leclerc.
At Sky Sport finally Leclerc threw a little dig at Adrian Newey: "I am not disappointed with Newey’s choice, because we talked with him and we tried. He made his choice and I respect it, everyone è free in that sense. He felt Aston Martin was better, for me Ferrari remains the number one team. Too bad about Adrian. I believe much more in the group than in the individual and we have so many super talented people. I am sure that this è the winning team and Vasseur is doing an amazing job and creating the foundation for the coming years. We will do everything to show Newey that he was wrong not to come to Ferrari".
