Davis Cup: Italy ahead 1-0, Berrettini comeback ahead of Jannik Sinner
First point for Italy in the last match against the Netherlands valid for the Davis Cup group stage. Matteo Berrettini in Bologna beat Botic Van De Zandschulp in a comeback and clinched the first point for the Azzurri, soon to be on court again with Flavio Cobolli facing Tallon Griekspoor in the second singles match of the day.
In front of Jannik Sinner, an interested spectator in the stands who had arrived from Val Pusteria to cheer on the Azzurri, Berrettini è managed to solve a match that was anything but easy: the Roman lost the first set because he was discontinuous on serve, but thanks to the growth of his serve slowly è managed to reverse the inertia of the match and come back to the Dutchman.
Berrettini closed with the scores of 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 23 minutes of the match.
Italy has already qualified for the Davis Cup finals in Malaga, but must win the match against the Netherlands to finish as first in its group.
