Dino Zoff remembers Totò Schillaci

In the 1989/1990 season, the destinies of Totò Schillaci and Dino Zoff intertwined: the striker just arrived from Messina disputò a season of high level, able to convince the then coach Azeglio Vicini to convene him for Italia 90, precisely under the orders of the former goalkeeper of the National Team, who to 'Kiss Kiss Napoli' recalled the early days of the Sicilian in bianconero.

"Schillaci was one of those strikers I like, he was an unpredictable bomber,” recounted Zoff, Juventus coach right up until the summer of '90. As soon as he arrived, he was worried about the environment and the Agnelli family, but I calmed him down and helped him become a real champion".

That season, Schillaci scoredò 21 goals in a total of 50 games between the league, Coppa Italia and Uefa Cup, contributing in a decisive way precisely to the successes in the two cups (the national one against Milan in the final, the European one against Fiorentina).

Zoff left Juve in the summer of 1990 to settle at Lazio, while Schillaci continued at Juventus for two more years without winning any other trophies. From 1992 to April '94 he then played for Inter, moving to Jubilo Iwata in Japan, just the day after his farewell to the Nerazzurri.
