Mercedes, George Russell pinpoints key aspect of Singapore GP
The words of George Russell
These are the words of Mercedes driver George Russell during the press conference to present the Singapore GP.
"Baku as well as Singapore represent unique circuits. With so many drivers close together even a tenth can make the difference between a podium and eighth place. Last year we were very fast here, and we hope to be that way again this season. The fourth DRS zone will definitely favor overtaking, but qualifying remains the key aspect of this weekend" began the British driver at the microphones of "Sky Sport F1".
"On city circuits you have to be 100% focused all the time. Last year I ended up out on the last lap, but that is part of racing. What happened in the past will not affect this weekend, on the contrary, from incidents like that you can only learn. On a physical level certainly Singapore and Qatar are two very tiring tracks, where the humidity affects so much, especially when you are locked in an F1 car" added George Russell.
Currently, the former Williams is in seventh position in the drivers world championship with 143 points and a gap of only 23 lengths to teammate Lewis Hamilton.
