Carlos Sainz spoke at the press conference to introduce the Suzuka Grand Prix: "Last year we struggled a lot with the SF-23, hopefully things will be better. For this weekend we only have a small upgrade on the rear end, a more substantial upgrade we will have later in the season".

Sainz, who had surgery for appendicitis only two weeks ago, which forced him to miss the race in Saudi Arabia, also made it clear that he still cannot train in the gym at the top due to the aftermath of that surgery, which did not, however, prevent him from winning in Australia.
