Graham Arnold resigns as ct of Australia'Australia
Graham Arnold è resigned as head coach of Australia's national soccer team after a series of modest results. This was announced in a statement by the Australian Football Association.
"After careful consideration, I believe it is time to bring new blood to the leadership of the team", Arnold, 61, who has led the Socceroos since August 2018, stated in the statement.
The decision comes after a home loss to Bahrain on Sept. 5, followed by a goalless draw in Indonesia on the 10th, which leaves Australia only fifth and second-to-last in Group C of the third round of Asian qualifiers after two days.
Results well below the standards of a team that had reached the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup, then eliminated by Argentina.
Australia will host China on Oct. 10 and then travel to Japan on the 15th, for the third and fourth days of Group C of the third round of Asian Zone qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
