Gianmarco Tamberi is not hiding

Protagonist, together with the other Italian flag bearer in Paris Arianna Errigo, of the ceremony of returning the Italian flag to the Quirinale, Gianmarco Tamberi è returned on the Olympic experience in the French capital, where due to a health problem he did not manage to confirm the gold won three years ago in Tokyo, nor to climb another of the two steps of the podium.

"I would first of all like to thank all those who were close to me in those very difficult days – said the high jumper, who despite being debilitated by kidney colic still wanted to participate in the Paris final, without coming close forò to the top positions -. I can not help but accept criticism, but only if placed in a constructive spirit, to understand if and where I went wrong".

"In general I think people like the fact that I am asù human as possible: I scream loudly if I feel like a lion, I cry in despair when I lose everything I have. From that I think you can understand all the sacrifices, all that there'è behind an Olympic participation".

Born in 1992, Tamberi è finished 11th in the Olympic final in Paris but his season è far from a failure: in Rome last June, he won the European title by jumping 2.37 (championships record and best world seasonal performance up to that point) and closed the Diamond League season with a brilliant victory in Brussels, jumping 2.34, on Sept. 14.
