Anna Kalinskaya ready for comeback in Beijing WTA 1000
After a break following the U.S. Open, where è she was eliminated in the third round by Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, Anna Kalinskaya, world number 14, is returning to play, and doing so in the WTA 1000 on the concrete in Beijing.
The Russian fiancée of Jannik Sinner, who è was granted a bye in the first round as the number 10 seed, now knows the name of her first opponent in this tournament: in the second round she will face Hailey Baptiste of the United States, world number 111, who today beat with a clear score of 6-0 6-3 the Russian defending the colors of France Varvara Gracheva, number 62.
Born in 1998, Anna Kalinskaya has three WTA circuit successes to her credit, all in doubles (Prague 2019 with Viktoria Kuzmova, Portorož 2021 with Tereza Mihailova, St. Petersburg 2022 with Caty McNally) while in singles (where she won 7 ITF titles) she won the WTA 125 in Midland in 2023 and lost two finals this year, in the WTA 1000 in Dubai against Jasmine Paolini and in the WTA 500 in Berlin against Jessica Pegula.
