Racing Bulls fires Daniel Ricciardo who bids farewell to F1
It was widely in’the air, now è official: Daniel Ricciardo is leaving Racing Bulls effective immediately, ending his second stint in Formula 1. He will be replaced by New Zealander Liam Lawson for the last six races of the season. The Australian è returned to Formula 1 last year in Hungary with AlphaTauri and remained there when the satellite team of planet Red Bull changed its name this year.
The 35-year-old Perth native has scored points on four occasions this year, including a fourth-place finish in the sprint in Miami, and an eighth-place finish in Canada. In his career Ricciardo has won eight Grands Prix out of the 257 he has competed in, seven with Red Bull between 2014 and 2018 and one with McLaren at Monza in 2021 finishing 24 other times on the podium and twice finishing third in the championship in 2014 and 2016.
&Eegrave; also started three times in pole position and has completed 17 fastest laps in the race, the last one last Sunday in Singapore, when è he was made to stop by the team to change tires snatching the additional point of the fastest lap from Lando Norris, who è is battling for the world championship with Max Verstappen, the leader evidently of two tams and not just one, Red Bull.
“I have loved the sport all my life. È wild and wonderful and è it has been a journey. Thank you to the teams and people who have played their part. To the fans who sometimes love the sport more than me haha thank you. There will always be ups and downs but è it has been fun and, to be honest, I wouldn’t change it.
Until the next adventure”, Ricciardo wrote on Instagram, prtically bidding farewell to Formula 1 after 14 seasons.
