For another, big upheaval in the grid there will be a wait.

Max Verstappen in Mercedes represented the new, big suggestion in Formula 1 after the announcement of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari. A hole had already been created in the Anglo-German team ahead of 2025, which has since been filled by Andrea "Kimi" Antonelli. In view of 2026, forò, there has long been talk of the hypothesis leading to the Dutchman, never in such stormy relations with Red Bull as this season. On the matter, però, Toto Wolff himself wanted to shed light.

The Mercedes team principal (and shareholder) admitted in an interview with 'Autosport' that a Verstappen idea was there. In the meantime, però è è waned. "We have stepped aside, I think I have said before. And Max shares,‖ Wolff explained. -You always need maximum trust in your drivers and your team, and you have to give maximum support to both. Only if things get really bad è right to consider opportunitiesà new".

Situation that therefore, at the moment, in Mercedes is not there'è. "It would be like flirting with somebody else while you are part of a romantic relationship where there are problems. That would be wrong, and in fact I am not flirting. I would only talk to Verstappen if there was a certainty of wanting to change, and I am sure he feels the same way", Wolff continued.

In Mercedes there'è therefore total confidence in the Russell-Antonelli pair, something on which Wolff was clear: "We will not distinguish between the two drivers, they will have the same support and nothing will change from now. It is no coincidence that George has had Hamilton, the greatest driver ever, on the team for three years. He will also fit in well with Kimi, one of the mostù young and promising". The space for Verstappen, therefore, at the moment is not there&39;è.
