Jasmine Paolini's adventure at the Wuhan WTA 1000 ends in the quarterfinals. The Italian player, in fact, è surrendered in three sets to the host Qinwen Zheng with the score of 6-2 3-6 6-3, after two hours and fifteen minutes of play.
The match starts immediately uphill for the Tuscan tennis player, who immediately loses her serve in the opening set. The hostess, for her part, first confirmed the break and then repeated in the seventh game, closing the set in the next round on 6-2.
The second partial also starts badly for Paolini, who again gives up the serve in the first game. The 1996-class player, however, does not get down by immediately finding the counter-break. The Olympic gold medal winner paired with Sara Errani then ups the pace, repeats in the fourth game and closes the score at 6-3.
The third and decisive set is decided in the eighth game, where Zheng manages to raise the level and place the break, which opens the door wide for her to reach the semifinals of the tournament.
In the next round, the world number five will face compatriot Xinyu Wang.
