Olimpia Milano, Nikola Mirotic’s involution worries.
Only five points (2/9 shooting) with Olympiacos'Olympiacos
At Piraeus, Olimpia è was swept by Olympiacos. Vezenkov confirmed that he is an all-star (22 points and seven rebounds) while Mirotic, EA7's star player, largely disappointed. For him, at the end of the match, only five points with a horrendous 2/9 shooting from the field. Certainly not the performance that Milan fans expected.
In fact, except for a few flashes in the game, the former Barcelona player started the season on an uphill climb. He had made it known during the training camp that he "… was not satisfied with the performance of last season" and that he was "… ready to take responsibility. In reality, to date he has not offered evidence of leadership.
Fans are worried and perplexed. Mirotic is supposed to be the added value of a roster built to reconfirm itself in Italy and go on to earn a playoff spot in the Euroleague. Without the real Mirotic, those goals become complicated to achieve.
Coach Messina, in the postgame of the Piraeus showdown with Olympiacos, "invited" the team to "…improve in terms of imposing the right pace on the game and not forcing the first available shot". Could this have been a veiled message to Mirotic? Everyone in the Red and White household knows that the 33-year-old Montenegrin naturalized Spanish All Star canò and must do better.
