In Assisi the christening of the Charter of Inclusive Sports

The world of sports is opening up to a new horizon of inclusion and opportunities for all thanks to the ‘Charter of Inclusive Sports’, symbolically ‘christened’ by 1982 world champion Giuseppe Dossena, already Ambassador of Charing Golf Tour, the sports charity chaired by Claudio Ongis that will start inclusive golf tournaments on the Charing circuit from 2025.

During one of the side events of the G7 on Inclusion and Disability, the Seraphic Institute of Assisi, in collaboration with the Panathlon Club Perugia, hosted the birth of this Document, which aims to redesign sport, breaking down all kinds of barriers and promoting unified sport, in which athletes with and without disabilities compete together.

"The Charter for Inclusive Sports è a concrete commitment to ensure that sport becomes accessible to all, including technically. As a sportsman, I know how important it is to have adequate facilities, trained coaches and the right tools to express one’s abilities to the fullest. The challenge now è to train technicians and create facilities that meet the needs of everyone, regardless of their abilities. This document marks the ’beginning of a journey that must lead to real and tangible change, because è sport is not only competition, but also inclusion and personal growth. È a strong message this, and it starts from a place of excellence like Seraphico, a symbol of inclusion and growth".

It’s no coincidence, in fact, that the presentation was held at the Serafico Institute, which has always been at the forefront of promoting inclusion for people with severe and very severe disabilities. In fact, the Assisian institute represents a model of excellence in the care and rehabilitation of children with disabilities, but also in promoting the active participation of its children in social, cultural and sports life.
