Mario Gila’s own goal: Juventus folds Lazio in 10 and hooks the top spot

The match between Juventus and Lazio, valid for the eighth day of Serie A, ended with a narrow success. At the Allianz Stadium, in fact, the Bianconeri snatched the three points in extremis thanks to an unfortunate own goal in the final minutes by the biancoceleste defender Mario Gila.

The first chance è for the hosts on 7’: Thuram entered the area from the left and put a treacherous ball in the middle, which Gila deflected onto the post, with Provedel beaten. On 21’ comes the first jolt with Kalulu being sent deep by Vlahovic and being brought down by Romagnoli. After a VAR consultation, the referee draws the red card for the former milan defender. In the end of the first half è Gatti came close to taking the lead with a header that finished just over the crossbar.

In the second half came the second woodwork for Thiago Motta’s boys: at 57' Thuram concluded toward the goal finding the deflection of a defender. On the rebound, Vlahovic concludes with a sure shot hitting the crossbar. After the round of substitutions, Juventus’ forcing is rewarded at 85'85;: Cabal puts a treacherous ball in the middle and this time Gila mistimes the intervention, deflects the ball and beats an unguarded Provedel.

Thanks to this success, the Bianconeri reach the top of the standings on 16 points, while Lazio remains stuck on 13 points.
