F1: Lando Norris on pole in Austin, Ferrari on second row
Seventh pole position for the Briton, sixth in 2024
Spectacle in qualifying for the US GP. The pole position è was won by Lando Norris (seventh in his career, the sixth in 2024). The Briton set the fastest time (1'32"330), putting Max Verstappen (0"031 thousandths off) behind him. The reigning World Champion has, however, to complain.
A few seconds from the end of the session, when he was looking for the pole position, the Dutchman of Red Bull è was blocked by yellow flags (off-track by George Russell who è ended up in the wall, fortunately without major consequences for the pilot). The feeling è that Max Verstappen could have taken home the pole position if he had not been "stopped".
Complicated by yellow flags, first place on the grid to his rival for the World Championship. At the moment, after winning the Sprint in Austin, Max Verstappen has a 54-point lead over the McLaren ace. Second row all Ferrari red. Carlos Sainz will start third on the grid with, alongside, the other Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. Next will be the McLaren of Oscar Piastri and the Mercedes of George Russell.
Lewis Hamilton’s resounding elimination in Q1 should be noted. The seven-time World Champion pointed the finger at his single-seater, judged "terrible to drive". His race è in fact, compromised.
