Laura Golarsa: "Jasmine Paolini? One more step to the Slam"

.

Former tennis player Laura Golarsa on the sidelines of the press conference presenting the Grand Finale of the tennis season on Sky spoke to the microphones of Sportal.it about Jasmine Paolini, who is nearing the end of a screaming 2024, with two Slam finals and the gold medal at the Olympics.

"I have to say that Jasmine this year è has been amazing and has been overshadowed very little, in the sense that she è managed to hold her own against Sinner, Bolelli, Vavassori and then had an incredible season, with two slam finals. Of course, the males made two wins forò we get there".

"The real surprise for me is not è that he wins so much, because heé plays really well, but è that until a few years ago he was a level definitely moreù below, so the leap in quality that took place after years è that’s what reallyè surprises.

"Will Jasmine be able to win a Slam? Paolini there'è came close, very close, è clear that to win a slam you always have to beat two or three very strong players, two or three players who maybe play like you or someone even stronger than you. Right now certainly there'è one player that I think overpowers her a little bit too much physically, and there'è one that I think could be stronger than Paolini even if she has to find her balance a little bit that è Rybakina, in my opinion they are stronger than Jasmine".

"Forò Jasmine showed that then continuity rewarded her, when you get to the finals you can also win. Swiatek who has a lot of experience stopped her, in Wimbledon she played in the final against a player who è definitely more herbivorous than her, so the components to win a Slam are many, either really you are stronger like Jannik that right now, or go close, although between winning and the final there is a big difference. So you would have to ask Jasmine to take one more step and become even a little bit stronger, right now in my opinion two or three play better than her".

"The Olympic dream è a dream that is equalized with the Slam, even if it happens in doubles with alongside someone like Sara Errani who has great experience anyway. The advantage of Paolini  è that in an extraordinary year è she has been perhaps the strongest singles player who has really dedicated herself to doubles, with a solid pair and with an experienced player on her side, so winning a gold, in any sport, any discipline, whether singles, doubles, whether team, è still a prize that you carry in time".

"It's indescribable in my opinion, to win an Olympic medal especially in a sport like tennis that until a few years ago was not considered an Olympic discipline, so sì, like winning at the Olympics the relay team in athletics, in short you are theì, you are the protagonist so let's talk about extraordinary achievements this year".
