Lucia Bronzetti, world number 84, qualified for the semifinals of the WTA 250 on the Guangzhou cement by beating in her own quarterfinal with a score of 6-4 6-1 the Chinese host Xiyu Wang, number 99.

Bronzetti immediately saves two break points in the second game of the match and two more, moreover consecutive, in the fourth. È instead she snatched the service from her opponent at 3-3, then, after nullifying another break point in the eighth game, closed the first partial at the third set point.

In the second set Lucia flies up 5-0 with triple break but when she has the first chance to serve for the match she loses the serve for the first time in the match, luckily in the next game she takes home the win on her opponent’s serve on the second match point.

Just over an hour and a half was the duration of this match. Now in the semifinals the 25-year-old from Rimini will face the U.S. Caroline Dolehide, world number 101.
