Ità will be a very special Monday in Turin. A Monday in which the history of Italian tennis will be celebrated. Jannik Sinner will in fact receiveà the end-of-season world number 1 award. An achievement never before achieved by an Italian tennis player in the history of men’s tennis.
The ceremony will take place on the Inalpi Arena’s Central at the end of the match of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, for the first time paired at the Nitto Atp Finals, who will make their debut at 6:30 p.m.
"Being No. 1 è a privilege" Sinner told SuperTennis during Media Day. A privilege he è earned at the end of a season in which he won seven titles, including his first two Slams at the Australian Open and US Open, and è always made it to at least the quarters in all tournaments played.
“Reaching the top of the ranking è the highest achievement in our sport. Only 29 players have had what it takes to achieve the Number 1 position – not only extraordinary talent, but a level of resilience, self-confidence and dedication that è held in high regard even outside the tennis world" said Andrea Gaudenzi, president of the ATP, introducing the Number 1 Club in which all players who have finished at least one season at the top of the rankings will enter. So also Jannik Sinner, the first-time champion in Italian tennis history.
