Mats Hummels ready to take on Claudio Ranieri’s new Roma
The great disappointment of these months toward a revival.
Mats Hummels ready to take on Roma under Claudio Ranieri’s management. The new Giallorossi coach, in his third experience at the helm of the Capitoline team, is beginning to take the measure of the group of players called to redemption after the disappointments of recent months. And the Testaccino coach seems ready to change the hierarchies of the group compared to the days of Ivan Juric.
This is underlined by the 'Corriere dello Sport', according to which Ranieri’s new Roma will give new importance to a group of players with great experience, either within the Giallorossi locker room or in general throughout their careers. One of them turns out to be Hummels himself, destined to become the new centerpiece of a defense also hinging on Mancini and Hermoso to complete the starting trio.
Ranieri, according to the Capital newspaper, is banking on a lower rearguard in order to avoid the defensive blunders that have marked too many of Roma’s performances in recent times, and only then use the department in the build-up phase. A new approach that could focus precisely on Hummels, one of Juric’s great purges on a par with Bryan Cristante. Who, a few meters further forward, could have the same role in midfield.
But that’s not è all: Ranieri seems intent on also empowering Pellegrini, Dybala, El Shaarawy, Dovbyk and Mancini himself. Experienced players in all roles, for a Roma that wants to grind out results by focusing on experience and charisma. With Hummels, long awaited and then deeply disappointing, at the center of the project.
