Amateur League takes a stand against violence against women
LND takes a stand against violence against women
"E’ jealous becauseé he loves me" and again, "è mine and will not be; anyone else". These are some of the phrases from the social campaign against all forms of violence towards women promoted by the Amateur League’Area Responsabilità Sociale. The phrases were pointed out by a mother from Florence, Paola, who lost her daughter Michela, a victim of feminicide. The campaign against violence against women highlights, in particular, with the cards, real lived situations.
"Football must play its part in the fight against gender violence- declares Luca De Simoni, coordinator Area Responsabilità Sociale della Lega Dilettanti- remembering that violence is not only physical, but also psychological and verbal. I think of the harassment we often hear in choruses at stadiums aimed at female athletes, but also at female spectators, and in a male-dominated sport we must make ourselves the bearers of the right messages".
The Amateur League also takes the field against violence with the’commitment of its more than 11,000 societiesà. In soccer and futsal facilities throughout Italy, in fact, replicating last year’s initiative, a red seat will be set up with a QR code that refers to the anti-violence and stalking number 1522. In addition, on the occasion of the matches, the message ( shown below) sent to the Amateur League by the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, and the Minister for Equal Opportunities, Eugenia Maria Roccella, will be read in the stadiums.
"The Minister for Equal Opportunityà and the Minister for Sport and Youth promote the awareness campaign against violence against women. If you are a victim of violence or stalking call 1522, specialized operators will answer and give you help and support. The toll-free public utility numberà 1522 è active 24h a day, the operators answer in 11 languages and guarantee absolute anonymity. 1522, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!".
"We joined the campaign of the Social Responsibility Area of the Amateur League- declare Paola and Massimo Noli, Michela’s parents- because we believe that by teaming up against violence, in all its forms, we reinforce the message that respect è the basis of life. We thank LND for supporting our daily efforts in the name of our daughter and all women who suffer violence. We will pursue with LND and its teams new initiatives to raise awareness and combat violence".
Finally, LND's Social Responsibility Area will speak on Nov. 25 at the Europe Experience Center- David Sassoli of the European Parliament in Rome during the ’initiative “The thousand faces of gender violence”.
