Milan Premier Padel P1: How many Azzurri at the start
Anticipation is growing for the third edition of the Milan Premier Padel P1, kicking off on Saturday, November 30, with the matches of the qualifying draw and Monday, December 2, with the challenges of the main draw. Wild cards were awarded in the afternoon and there are many Azzurri at the start.
Three pairs admitted in the main draw: an all-Italian one, the one formed by Riccardo Sinicropi and Lorenzo Di Giovanni, joined by Simone Cremona (who will play with Jaime Fermosell) and Marco Cassetta, paired with Miguel Angel Solbes. The four Azzurri will then return to the court at the Allianz Cloud a few weeks after reaching a historic fourth place at the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha. Also part of that team were Aris Patiniotis and Facundo Dominguez, who gained access to the main draw of the Milan Premier Padel P1 by ranking: Patiniotis will play with Jesus Moya, Dominguez with Nacho Piotto.
Wild cards for the qualifying round, which will be played at GetFit, went instead to Simone Iacovino and Michele Bruno (who in the Rome Major were able to make it through the qualifiers) and the very young Matteo Platania (class of 2006, from Agrigento) and Matteo Sargolini (2007, from Civitavecchia). The other Italians who will be playing the 'quali' in Milan are Denis Perino (with Jorge Ruiz), Alvaro Montiel (with Thomas Leygue), the Flavio Abbate/Giulio Graziotti pair, Emiliano Iriart (with Pedro Araujo) and Enzo Jensen (with Alonso Rodriguez Martinez).
In the women’s draw, the wild card for the main drawè went to Martina Parmigiani and Chiara Pappacena, bronze medalists at the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha. Parmigiani and Pappacena join two other Azzurri women admitted by ranking to the main draw: Italy's No. 1 Carolina Orsi (paired with Spain's Nuria Rodriguez) and Giorgia Marchetti, who plays instead with France's Lea Godallier.
Giulia Dal Pozzo and Caterina Baldi, winners a few days ago of the FIP Rise in Naples, have instead received a wild card for the qualifiers and join Lorena Vano (playing with Spain’s Amanda Lopez Moral), and the all-blue pair formed by Emily Stellato and Giulia Sussarello.
