Drama in tennis: Altug Celikbilek hit on court by a cerebral hemorrhage
Hours of great anxiety for Turkish tennis player Altug Celikbilek, who è felt ill on court during a match at the M15 Monastir A60 tournament in Tunisia. The player è slumped to the ground at the end of the first game of the match against compatriot Yanki Ere. Medical personnel immediately came to Celikbilek’s aid, but the situation è immediately appeared to be very serious: the Turkish tennis player, currently number 452 in the world and with a best ranking of 154th in the ATP rankings, è was rushed to the hospital.
Celikbilek suffered a brain hemorrhage: the Turkish federertennis announced. The player è underwent surgery in the Tunisian clinic and his condition is being constantly monitored: by his side is his family.
"The health status of our athlete Altug Celikbilek è closely monitored by our Federation and the Tunisian Embassy. All necessary support will be provided to the athlete and his family. We wish him a speedy recovery", the Turkish Federtennis note.
The hospital disclosed that if his condition improves after the first surgery there will be no need for a second operation, otherwise Celikbilek will end up under the knife again after returning to Turkey.
