Remco Evenepoel updates on his condition
From the’hospital Remco Evenepoel updated on his condition on his Instagram account after the terrible car accident he was involved in yesterday. Here are the words of the reigning Olympic champion.
“After a scary accident during training yesterday, I underwent surgery and everything went well. With a fractured rib, scapula, hand, bruised lungs and a dislocated right clavicle that caused all the surrounding ligaments to rupture, it will be a long journey but I am fully focused on my recovery and am determined to come back stronger, step by step”.
“I am very grateful for all the help and support I have received in the last 24 hours. From the emergency room, to the neighbors who helped me in the first moments, to the medical teams from Anderlecht and Herentals and our team doctor. Also a special mention to my wife and family for standing by me in these difficult moments and to everyone for the messages of support. I also want to express my support to the woman involved in the accident”.
In addition to the five-circle title in the road race this year in Paris, the 24-year-old Belgian also won the time trial title, the specialty of which he won the world champion’s rainbow jersey for the second year in a row. This year he was also third on his Tour de France debut behind the two great duelists Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.
