Obereggen European Cup, triumphs Frenchman Antoine Azzolin
Frenchman Antoine Azzolin, just 21 years old, won the prestigious European Cup slalom in Obereggen in an incredible race to the hundredths. Azzolin beat Finland’s Jesper Pohjolainen by only four hundredths and Norway’s Oscar Andreas Sandvik by five hundredths. With third place, Sandvik consolidated his lead in the European Cup slalom standings.
The Azzurri continue to wait for their first triumph in Obereggen since 2011, when Patrick Thaler won. Tommaso Saccardi, who was leading after the first run, è exited in the second run. The French, on the other hand, are celebrating their second victory in the space of two years: in 2022 Stefen Amiez won, now he is followed by Antoine Azzolin.
