The second time trial of the men’s World Cup downhill in Bormio did not only see the fall of Frenchman Cyprien Sarrazin. American Kyle Negomir and Swiss Josua Mettler also fell disastrously, fortunately without consequences. The latter will not, however, be at the start of tomorrow’s race, the former sì.
But the most serious injury besides Sarrazin’s was at home in Italy. Pietro Zazzi, a 30-year-old from Bormio itself, stuck his arm in a door at the top of the slope and fell, stopping not far from the safety nets.It seemed like a minor fall, but it wasn’t so.
L’blue in the fall he è in fact got the decomposed fracture of the tibia and fibula of the right leg. This is the diagnosì that showed the raduigraphies to which è was subjected to the hospital of Sondalo, where the Valtellinese è was hospitalized. Later è he was taken to Milan, where he will be operated on tomorrow by the FISI medical team.
Obviously his season ends early and propeio on the snows of his home. Zazzi made his World Cup debut right in Bormio four years ago and has so far competed in 33 races, finishing 10 times in the points zone. His best result è was sixth place in the superG in Kvitfjell last Feb. 18, while this season è was 11th a week ago also in the superG in Val Gardena.
