Lisa Vittozzi (0+1) made hers the sprint of the Italian Summer Biathlon Championships being held in Forni Avoltri. A majestic race by the Sappada native, who even trimmed 1’11” gap to Dorothea Wierer (0+1). Third placed Rebecca Passler (0+1) at 2’09” who ‘printed’ by half a second Samuela Comola (0+1). The Valdostana woman probably saw the podium slip away due to a fall in the last meters of the race when she was entering the last straight, so she è had to settle for fourth place. Fifth across the finish line was American Deedra Irwin, who was a special participant in today’s national race and who è performed well especially on skis, coming in just 9″ from the podium with the same mistakes as Passler. Sixth Beatrice Trabucchi, the’only one with a 0 on the two series detached by 2’25” from Vittozzi. Seventh a foul Hannah Auhentaller with 3 errors followed by Gaia Brunetto alsoì with 3 missed targets.

Uncertain race until the last, if we exclude the fight for the victory where today Vittozzi seemed to have a lot more. After the second polygon as many as 5 athletes were in the running for podium positions. Vittozzi, Wierer, Comola and Passler (as well as Irwin) all made a mistake in the second round of shooting, after coming out clean from the first session, demonstrating how good today s conditions were at the range and how the blue girls are good at it.

Among the U22 junior girls, Sara Scattolo è set herself ahead of Birgit Schoelzhorn and Matilde Trabucchi.

Patrick Braunhofer è imposed himself in the ‘senior’ with his usual super performance at the range (0+0), pulling 9″ away at the finish line from another shooting specialist, Daniele Cappellari (0+0). The Friulian was è not to be outdone in the shooting, but he paid on the skirolls and had to settle for the place d’honor. Surprisingly, Nicola Romanin (2+1) è placed third, a surprise not so much because of the Army Sports Center athlete’s placing as because he managed to keep behind none other than Didier Bionaz with equal errors.

The Aosta valdostan botched the range, making one mistake in the first series and two more in the second, ending up finishing fourth, less than a second behind Romanin. Fifth Rodigari (0+1) at 55″ from the top, sixth Elia Zeni (1+2), seventh David Zingerle (0+3) and eighth Cedric Christille (0+1).

In the junior U22 category, Thomas Daziano (1+0) came out on top, who was able to take advantage of Nicol&ograve  Betemps’ (1+1) extra mistake, second at 16″. Third Christoph Pircher (1+2) at 40″ who è fell breaking a stick. Fourth Cesare Lozza (1+2), fifth Fabio Piller Cottrer (1+2).
