Fabio Balaso launches the challenge

Reduced by the tie-break loss against Vero Volley Monza on Boxing Day (after squandering a two-set-to-one lead), Lube Civitanova faces the last match of the calendar year, the Coppa Italia quarterfinal scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. against Powervolley Milano, with a great desire for redemption. The winner will be in the Final Four, scheduled for Jan. 25 and 26 at the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna).

To try to charge the white-and-red environment, on the eve of the match, è Fabio Balaso, Lube’s libero: "We come from the photofinish defeat on Monza’s court and we have on our conscience avoidable errors in decisive phases of the match – admitted, in no uncertain terms, the volleyball player born in 1995 -. We will react at home, in the last match of 2024, an important challenge to achieve one of our main goals".

"We want to repeat ourselves with Milan after the championship victory over the meneghini and return to play the Final Four of the Italian Cup" added Balaso, referring to the challenge won by Civitanova last December 22, with a clear 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-23 the partials in favor of the Marche).

Coached by Giampaolo Medei, Lube Civitanova faces the 2024/2025 season with the goal of returning to lift a trophy for the first time since 2022, when it graduated as Italian champion. Last year it finished 5° place in the league, stopping in the quarterfinals in the Italian Cup, succumbing to Perugia in the Supercup and losing in the Champions semifinals to Trentino.
